Seattle Kids Weekend Events: Jan. 28-30

And just like that, January is coming to a close. We’re all in for fantastic family adventures this weekend, staring with your last chance to catch WildLanterns at Woodland Park Zoo before it leaves on Sunday. If you haven’t had a chance to wander through this gorgeous glowing display, now’s the time to make it happen. Also on our radar: celebrating the Year of the Tiger, tales for tractor lovers and a spectacular streetball show.

Anastasia
From the Tony Award-winning creators of the Broadway classic Ragtime and inspired by the beloved films, Anastasia is the new Broadway musical that’s inspiring families around the country and it’s coming to the Paramount for a week at the end of January. Anastasia transports theatergoers from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing conman and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family. Tickets required. Fri.-Sun. Event details.

Lunar New Year Fair
2022 is the year of the Tiger. Celebrate with the Wing Luke Museum as they take their Lunar New Year Fair outside. Start off in Canton Alley with community tables and follow along into the Chong Wa Playfield for interactive cultural activities, storytime, performances and take-and-go craft activities. Sat. Event details.

Harlem Globetrotters: Spread Game Tour
The World-Famous Harlem Globetrotters are back with their newly reimagined Spread Game Tour, a basketball event like no other. Ankle-breaking moves, jaw-dropping swag and rim-rattling dunks are only some of the thrill you can expect from this fully modernized show. Part streetball from the players who defined it, part interactive family entertainment, the new tour will show off the best of the Globetrotters in a dazzling exhibition of talent and game. Psst…they’ll also be strutting their stuff in Everett on Friday night. Tickets required. Sat. Event details.

Celebrate the Year of the Tiger
Celebrate the Lunar New Year at the Bellevue Collection. Visit anytime between now and February 6, you’ll find traditional displays, a pop spot and festive photo screens that make the perfect selfie backdrop. We’re fans of the kid perks that include lucky red envelopes and a lantern craft. You can pick up both at the Guest Services desk (psst.. parents can pick up a Lucky Scratch Card when they visit too). Don’t forget to download coloring sheets to make your celebration complete. Through Feb. 6. Event details.

Tractor Tales
Bring your tractor-loving child to this fun experience at Kelsey Creek Farm Park. Your child will get to ride toy tractors, sit in the seat of a real tractor for a photo and watch the real tractor in action. The kids will do a tractor-themed craft and learn all about what tractors do on farms too. Registration required. Sun. Event details

Family Swim Time
Who says you have to be on vacation to enjoy time at the pool. Bring the kids to the Mary Wayte Pool on Mercer Island for Family Swim on Fridays. They’ve got two time slots to choose from, one in the morning and one after works so you can fit in a little leisure time. Just remember to snag your spot with a reservation (required). Fri.
