San Diego Kids Weekend Events: May 20-22

Parents, have you heard? Kids (up to age 18) ride free on San Diego’s Metropolitan Transit System. So hop on a train, trolley or bus and get out and enjoy the weekend. From the brand new Ferrari Build and Race attraction at LEGOLAND to a free music class with ChimES, read our picks on where to go and what to see for maximum fun. LEGO’s Ferrari Build and Race is Open
The new LEGO Ferrari Build and Race is coming to LEGOLAND® California Resort on May 12! Featuring a life-size LEGO Ferrari F40, Build and Race puts you in the driver’s seat as you make your way through the “garage” to the “racetrack” using your creativity and imagination to build, test, and race your own LEGO Ferrari. Parents Night Out
We don’t know who needs to hear this, but you deserve a night out! This weekend Fandory is offering a fun evening of safe activities for children ages 2-8. Go enjoy a night of freedom knowing that the kids will be playing games, and hanging out with new friends. The event includes dinner and dessert. A chance for you to spend a lovely evening with your love, while we watch your kids. The San Diego All-Gauge Toy Train
The San Diego All-Gauge Toy Train Association will return to Balboa Park with an energetic temporary exhibit in the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. Trains of all scales & rails will zip by, and there are interactive elements for kids! Fri.-Sun. Event details

ChiMES Free Class
ChIMES (Childhood Introduction to Music Education, with Smiles) is the early childhood music program of the San Diego Youth Symphony for children ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers. Join us for a FREE 20-min class (at 10:30 am or 11:30 am) to see what ChIMES is all about! Sun. Event details. 

Pajama Story Time
Take a trip to Barnes and Noble for Pajama Storytime on Friday night at 7 pm. Kids will hear classics and new stories and then be able to browse around. Nothing better than going home already dressed for bed. Check Barnes and Noble for all participating locations. Fri. Event details.

Inaugural Day of Arts
This free three-hour event is open to all 5th to 10th-grade students and features hands-on art sessions with faculty and staff. Students may choose from 6 disciplines: Visual Art, Music, Dance, Theatre, Creative Writing, and Multi-Arts Exploration. The event is designed to allow young artists the opportunity to participate in professional training and learning in the arts by Credentialed Educators and Industry Professionals. Sat. Let’s Play
San Diego Public Library is partnering with Brain Balance of San Diego and Chula Vista to offer a special series of programs that celebrate and raise awareness about neurodiversity throughout our community. Let’s Play! is a program geared for toddler-aged children that will lead them on a magical, multisensory adventure with fun on and off the pages to wiggle, move, and play. Fri. Event details.
