San Diego Kids Weekend Events: March 25-27

Grab the sunscreen, shed the light-weight jacket, and lace up your sneakers, Spring in San Diego is underway and the city is celebrating with family-friendly events all weekend long. From opening day at Sesame Place San Diego to Kids’ Day at The Flower Fields—here are the happenings you won’t want to miss.

Fun Animal Friday: Girl Next Door Honey
Join us onsite for Fun Animal Friday with Girl Next Door Honey, Friday, March 25 from 10 am to 12 pm.   Girl Next Door Honey will be introducing our guests to the amazing world of bees!   The event will include a live presentation, special activities, storytime, special craft, and more! Included with Museum admission. No registration is required. Fri. Event details. 

Kids’ Day at The Flower Fields
The flower fields are open and they’re celebrating with a kids’ day Saturday. A full day of fun featuring drumming, bubble making, ballooning, face painting and more. See performances by the BMX Freestyle Team at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Don’t miss out on the world’s most extreme freestyle stunt riders in an exciting, spectacular, non-stop, action-packed stunt show! An exciting addition to Kid’s Day this year is the General Yo Competition Team.  Prepare to be amazed at these competitive yoyo masters demonstrating their exciting tricks and moves with performances at 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm. Most Kids’ Day activities are included with the cost of admission. Sat. Event details. 

Sesame Place San Diego: Opening Day
Sesame Place San Diego will be the second theme park of its kind in the United States and the first on the West Coast-based on Sesame Street. The park will be ideal for families with kids of all ages and will feature 18 Sesame Street-themed rides and exciting water attractions, including a family-friendly rollercoaster and a 500,000-gallon wave pool – one of the largest in Southern California. The park will also feature an engaging musical play area, an interactive Sesame Street Neighborhood complete with the iconic 123 Stoop, daily live character shows, an award-winning parade, one-of-a-kind photo opportunities and of course, everyone’s favorite furry friends.  Sat-Sun. Nature Studio: Wildflowers
Create your own floral work of art while learning about the importance of various local plants and flowers at The Nat. Visitors of all ages are welcome to join education staff and volunteers and put their curiosity and imagination to work. Explore the natural world through hands-on activities inspired by the natural world.  Free with general admission. Sat. Event details. 

Pirate Plunge: Alga Norte Aquatic Center
Enjoy pirate-themed pool activities and games during the City of Carlsbad’s annual Pirate Plunge event. The outdoor movie starts at dusk. Come dressed in a swimsuit and enjoy the fun, swashbuckling activities which include diving for treasure, ship raider race and more. Race across the floating obstacles and walk the diving board plank. There will also be dry activities available like a pirate ship slide, a photo op and a treasure hunt.  for kiddos that don’t want to get wet. As the sun goes down, finish the night off with a special presentation of the movie, Treasure Planet (rated PG) on the giant outdoor movie screen. Sat. Event details. 

Parkway Paws Party
Calling all pet owners! Join us on March 26 from 2 pm-5 pm at Parkway Plaza for the Parkway Paws Party to celebrate its new dog-friendly policy. This event will feature a dog trainer and agility course for pups to enjoy, along with a caricature artist, special treats, a swag bag and much more. Located in El Cajon, Parkway Plaza houses over 170 retailers featuring a balanced mix of fashion, beauty, entertainment, and a wide variety of fast-casual and sit-down restaurants, making it the perfect one-stop destination for a fun and productive day, now to be enjoyed with your four-legged friends. Sat.
