Re-discover Adelaide Arcade

Oh what a delight — Adelaide Arcade is full of history and pizazz!

Beneath its magnificent architecture, the arcade is full of unique Adelaide-owned health and beauty shops, fashion, jewellery, homewares and gifts, and delicious treats. It’s not just a gateway between Grenfell Street and Rundle Mall, it’s a destination that we’d love you to rediscover.

So we’ve put together a list of some of our fave places to pop into, in Adelaide Arcade. Enjoy…

Haighs and Koko Black

Let’s start with dessert! The Arcade is book-ended with sweet treats, Haighs on the Grenfell Street entrance and Koko Black facing onto Rundle Mall. Haighs Chocolates is Australia’s oldest family-owned chocolate maker, and of course, Koko Black offers quality handmade chocolates, Belgian Hot Chocolate and a lounge where you can enjoy their premium dessert range.

May we suggest, starting your adventure with one of these Belgian hot chocolates at KoKo Black and then ending with a few of your fave classic Haighs choccies for the drive home.

Alexandra Lingerie

Milkers, mailbags, cat flaps, noogies, mosquito bites, puppies, jugs, airbags, cream pies, melons, coconuts, boozies, boobs… whatever nickname you’ve given your honkers, there’s one thing for certain — we’ve all got them, or had them.

But sadly, most of us don’t look after them like we should. Alexandra calls herself the French Big Boobs Expert and prides herself on women leaving her shop fitted with the right-sized bra for their breast shape. “I want my customers only leave with the perfect bra and that’s why I offer a personal shopping and fitting service for free,” says Alexandra!

Mist Jewellery

Silver jewellery has never looked more stunning! With the latest trends from Australia and Europe, Mist offers a large range of casual or formal jewellery for both Adeladies and Adelads!  You’re sure to find something sparkly and affordable in this cute-as-a-button, jewellery shop. It’s on the left hand side of the Arcade as you walk towards Grenfell Street.

Games World

As a mum of two little boys who LOVE games, this place is a GAMER’S HEAVEN! With thousands of unique games on offer, you’ll definitely find something fun, freaky or family-friendly in this world of games! “At Games World Adelaide we love board games! Don’t be fooled though, we also cater for jigsaw puzzle lovers, hobbyists and kids who like to think outside the square. We are a family owned business that’s been running for 17 years, and we like what we sell — it would be pretty impossible not to, in fact!”

Ciao Bar

Why wouldn’t you want to start your day with authentic Italian coffee at one of Adelaide’s first ever coffee bars? Ciao has been owned by the same family for 30 years and boy-oh-boy do they make a nice coffee and delicious open grills, rolls, ciabattas and cakes. And they’re always served with a smile.

Adelaide Hatters

The largest specialty hat shop in Australia, Adelaide Hatters has been selling hats for over 25 years, and they will tell you that the perfect hat isn’t just about picking one off the rack. At Adelaide Hatters, they’re all about finding you the right  fit, something that suits your style, personality and face shape. They even measure your shoulders to make sure the hat suits your frame! How’s that for service. Oh, and they also have a Milliner on site who will design you the perfect headpiece for a special occasion.

History Tour

Fancy a history tour? You can do a free, self-guided tour of Adelaide Arcade in your own time. The Arcade opened its doors in 1885, and at the time, was the most talked about shopping precinct in the Southern Hemisphere.

Even with renovations Adelaide Arcade remains true to its original ambience and style and if you’re REALLY lucky, you might even spot a ghost or two. But don’t worry, they’re friendly.

And if you’re itching to learn more about its rich history, you can enjoy this self-guided history tour  from the comfort of your own home with their interactive website and audio experience.

Gallery 33

As an art lover this place makes my heart sing! Featuring Aboriginal designed homewares, jewellery and original pieces of Aboriginal art, Art Gallery 33 is full of gorgeous pieces that will add colour and warmth to your homes. I mean, look at those cushions!

So, we’d love you to mosey on out of your homes and make the time to re-visit this Adelaide institution and let us know what you discover…
