Goosechase

Here’s a fun tool for engaging student experiences. Hatched on a Canadian campus in 2011 and inspired by scavenger hunts, GooseChase is an online platform for educators to create games to play in real life that inspire students—and teachers— out of their seats and learning in a more interactive, effective way. Since GooseChase’s expansion to GooseChaseEDU in 2017, over 10,000 customers have run more than 183,000 educational games.

According to research, “Challenge-based gamification in education leads to an increase of 34.75% in student performance.” (ScienceDirect, 2020) Harnessing this power through an intuitive platform, GooseChase champions different learning styles, improving motivation, retention, and performance.

Games can be customized with Q&A, photo/video, and even GPS “Missions” for lesson plans, field trips, PD days, PTA activities, and more. Or, use tried-and-tested templates for K-12 activities created by teachers. GooseChase supports both social and solitary learning, with options for both individual and team play. It can be used in-class to boost learning with a physical component, or for virtual and hybrid classes to keep lessons on track and students engaged.

Games can easily be edited, reused, and shared with fellow teachers. Following the game, it’s easy to download a private report that details participation, points, and all the photo and video submissions.

It’s free for students to download the app and play, and more information on subscriptions are on goosechase.com/edu. Goosechase earned a Cool Tool Award (finalist) for “Best Games for Learning Solution” as part of The EdTech Awards 2022 from EdTech Digest. Learn more.
