The Annapurna Interactive Showcase finished up, bringing the latest details about what the Stray publisher has coming next.
Known for its unique and exciting titles, Annapurna Interactive has been making some very smart publishing choices in recent years. From Stray, Neon White, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and many more, their games have sparked the hearts and minds of many people across the globe. Now with their latest showcase over, it is time to look at the big announcements and see what you should be looking forward to over the next few months and years.
Kicking off the showcase, Thirsty Suitors developer Outerloop Games started this off by showing a demo of how the combat and narrative systems work in the game, including how they work together to create a truly unique experience. Thirsty Suitors is coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. A demo is available now on Steam. It’ll be on Game Pass at launch.
Hindsight, from developer Joel McDonald of Prune fame, got its first trailer, giving a taste of how the story -driven experience will look. Hindsight is the story of a woman’s life, from birth to now, where the surrounding objects are windows into her past. Hindsight will be coming to Apple iOS, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam on Aug. 4.
New Project from the Creators of Kentucky Route Zero
Cardboard Computer, the developer of Kentucky Route Zero is working on a new game with Annapurna Interactive. Little is known at this time what it will look like or when it will come out, but it is apparently going to be more animated than their past efforts, so things could get interesting.
Bounty Star: The Morose Tale of Graveyard Clem
As the games keep on coming, developer Dinogod announced Bounty Star: The Morose Tale of Graveyard Clem. Combining mech fighting, farming, and base building, this is the Stardew Valley and Gundam combo no one knew they needed. It is slated to come to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC via Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in 2023.
Yarn Owl Update
It was announced at the showcase that Annapurna Interactive and Yarn Owl, a new studio out of Texas and Georgia, will be working on a new project. It is still in early development, but from the looks of things, this could lead to exciting things.
In the new update, it was revealed that Outer Wilds would still be coming to the Nintendo Switch; it has just been delayed a bit due to the amount of work involved. It will also be making its way to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on Sept. 15, and it will be free for anyone that already owns it on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Keeping with the theme of personal stories in games, Forever Ago is a road trip-style game with an elderly man as the protagonist. Coming from German studio Third Shift, the game is looking like it will be a touching story and is bringing a very interesting gameplay concept that has not been explored much in gaming.
What Remains of Edith Finch
Keeping with the trend of bringing past games to new consoles, the celebrated indie game What Remains of Edith Finch is now available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and is now running at 60FPS. Even better is that the release will be free for anyone that owns already owns the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.
Flock: Gather Your Friends
Coming from Hollow Ponds and Richard Hogg (known for their work on Hohokum), Flock, as the name suggests, is a game where you fly around and collect other bird friends. It’s coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC via Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
The Lost Wild
Annapurna Interactive will help Great Ape Games bring dinosaur survival game The Lost Wild to a wider audience. Combining the feel of Jurassic Park and the modern horror elements seen in games like Resident Evil VII, the game looks exciting and terrifying all at the same time. It’ll be coming to Windows PC via Steam, with consoles coming at a later date after that release.
